Geomicrobiology and biogeochemistry lab

Left: Living stromatolites cultivated in the Geomicrobiology Lab

We have all the means to cultivate anaerobic and aerobic microbes from marine to freshwater sediments. Anaerobic chambers provide ideal conditions to work under an oxygen-free environment.

Living stromatolites from Lagoa Vermelha, Brazil, are cultivated under natural conditions in the laboratory to study the microbial community and the processes involved in carbonate mineral formation.
