Metamorphism in the Swiss AlpsMy current research is focused on high-pressure metamorphic rocks in the Central Alps of Switzerland and Italy. I investigate several aspects of the development of these rocks. At the moment emphasis lies on assessing the distribution of the ages of high-pressure metamorphism, which I determine by means of Lu-Hf geochronology. The age distribution will help us develop a better understanding of the subduction and exhumation processes that were active during Alpine orogeny. Other themes I work on are the dynamics and kinematics of the later stages of exhumation of eclogites in the Central Alps, and symplectite-forming metamorphic reactions. This research is being carried out under a postdoctoral fellowship of the Swiss National Science Foundation, awarded to Prof. Martin Engi. Please feel free to contact me for more information about my research.
