SPREADSHEETS WITH PREDICTIVE MODELS

  • Welcome ! Here you can download a spreadsheet (MS Excel 2002 for Windows format) that calculates predicted garnet-anhydrous melt partition coefficients for trivalent cations, as published in the companion papers Van Westrenen and Draper / Draper and Van Westrenen (Contrib Mineral Petrol 154, 717-730 and 731-746, 2007).
  • If you are still interested in an earlier version of this model, download the spreadsheet (MS Excel 2000 for Windows format) that uses the model published by Van Westrenen, Wood and Blundy (Contrib Mineral Petrol 142, 219-234, 2001) to predict garnet-melt partitioning of REE, Y, In and Sc as a function of pressure, temperature and garnet major element composition.
  • Also available, a spreadsheet (MS Excel 2000 for Windows format) that uses the model published by Wood and Blundy (Contrib Mineral Petrol 129, 166-181, 1997) to predict clinopyroxene-melt partitioning of the REE and Y as a function of pressure, temperature, clinopyroxene major element composition, and Mg# of the melt. OTHER PARTITIONING LINKS

  • EarthRef / GERM pages on trace element partitioning, maintained by Roger Nielsen and Anthony Koppers. Contains a large data base of mineral-melt and mineral-fluid partition coefficients. Please note that many references which postdate 1998 have not been added to this database. This is unfortunate because of the large number of papers on partitioning that have been published since then. For example, commonly referenced data sets from recent papers of Salters and Longhi (EPSL 1999) and Blundy et al. (EPSL 1998) cannot be accessed at all.
